Hey, I'm so glad you're here! Thanks for dropping by, and welcome! I pray the time we spend visiting together here makes us good friends.

This blog is called "Debbi's Palapa" because my family loves to travel to one particular little beach town in Mexico, we've been going since Jack and I went on our honeymoon 25 years ago. It's such a respite for us when life gets overwhelming, a place where I can clear my mind from writing projects and love on people from all over the world and literally gasp at the the colors of God's creation. Who knew there could be so many shades of blue and turquoise, anyway? It's a place to stand barefooted in the sand, to leave the cares of the world behind, to feel the Father's love pouring down with sunlight. All this, I want to share with you!

You can expect writing tips here and stuff about historical roses and Healing Hearts Ministries and Compassion and the uproar in Darfur and plenty of jokes, prayers and hugs. I'll post a 'book and family' update as often as possible so you'll know what's going on in the business and private life of the Bedfords. We ask you to register so you can join in (that's our only way to keep some pretty bizarre links from showing up...my administrator will tell you!) Can't wait to hear your tips, recipes, ideas for kids, prayers, everything!

While it's easy to use a blog as a marketing tool with readers, I want this to be so much more than that. Above all things, I promise to be open and vulnerable. It's easy to gloss over the pain we feel walking the Christian life; I promise to let you in on deep feelings when I'm struggling, and I hope you'll do the same. For the heavenly Father to get the glory, we all must be honest, open, real. To do any less is to gloss over the power of what God can do. And this world so desparately needs to know our powerful God in His fullness!

Above all, thanks for registering. And now that you've visited, don't be a stranger. Stop by often, let us know what we can be praying for, and tell us what you're thinking. Here's a big hug. May your adventure here be blessed!

Deborah

Here I go answering my own post. I must say, those Viriginia Techies are handling themselves with grace and dignity. Many of those students I heard on the news were very eloquent and forgiving of the university administration. They don't want to do what the Rosie O'Donnells of the world are doing and that's play the blame game.

The politicizing of these types of events by the pundits sickens me. I was listening to Sean Hannity on the radio today and he played some quotes of Rosie's blaming the president and gun lobbyist for this. She also had to bring to everyone's attention the fact that it took a week for him to get to New Orleans and only a day to get to Virginia. It just occurred to me that whatever one's views are about these things they are better left unsaid so soon after the tragedy. It just seemed to be in bad taste.

That's all I've got for now.
Hope everyone has a blessed day.
Susan
